More About Me
Originally from New York and based in San Diego, I have nearly 20 years of dynamic experience with research, intelligence, consulting, strategic communications, technology start-ups and multimedia projects.
I founded Elia Intel out of a need for customized information products, having recently directed research and business intelligence efforts for EHS Partners, a premier management consulting firm working with Fortune 500 companies. While there, my work contributed to multi-million dollar projects across global industries including financial services, consumer-packaged goods, insurance, energy, transportation, and healthcare.
I am also an original co-founder of saambaa, a San Diego-based mobile software platform for event discovery that was featured by Apple and various tech blogs.
Previously, I worked at the United Nations Integrated Regional Information Networks, a part of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and have contributed to various children's rights projects in humanitarian emergencies in both the Democratic Republic of Congo and Bosnia Herzegovina. My international affairs work also included comprehensive analyses, notably for the economist Jeffrey Sachs, UNDP and the Millennium Development Goals (now known as the Sustainable Development Goals).
Prior to my international work, I worked with California-based non-profit organizations on the Digital Divide and subsequently founded Minds Wide Open, a multimedia global education initiative. I am an author of published works on media training for youth, and have also worked with the Ad Council in New York on governmental and non-profit public service campaigns.
I earned a Masters in International Affairs from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science in Communication and Social Change from Cornell University.
I am an avid world traveler and have attended Burning Man since 2005, contributing to the award-winning light performance art of the UCBW art collective. I also write about my 20-year dedicated yoga and embodiment practice from a human rights lens on my blog.
